€1 Million Lotto Plus 1 Jackpot Won in Cavan

A Lotto Plus 1 jackpot of €1 million has been won in County Cavan, after over 97,000 people won prizes in the 20th July Lotto draw. The Lotto Plus 1 jackpot winner is yet to come forward, though the shop that sold the winning ticket has been announced.

No one matched all six main numbers in the main Lotto draw on Saturday 20th July, but one lucky player from Cavan matched all six in the supplementary Plus 1 draw. The Lotto Plus 1 numbers for the 20th July draw were 1, 11, 14, 26, 44 and 47, with a Bonus of 3.

Winning Lotto Plus 1 Ticket Sold in Cavan Town Service Station

The shop that sold the winning Lotto Plus 1 entry was revealed to be the Spar/Maxol service station on Ballinagh Road; owner Philip Kiernan was “in shock” that a €1 million prize was won through his shop. “I only found out this morning, so I’m looking forward to getting in to the store and spreading the news to all of our customers.”

When asked to speculate on who the winner might be, Kiernan suggested they might be a local resident: “Given the location of the store, the vast majority of our customers are local - and to think that one of these people are after becoming a millionaire with a ticket they bought in the store yesterday is just unbelievable.”

The mystery Lotto Plus 1 jackpot winner will have 90 days from the date of the draw to collect their winnings. If they do not come forward by the 18th October 2019, the prize will be returned to the National Lottery for use promoting future games.

As the main Lotto jackpot was not won, it will roll over to the next draw – the estimated Lotto jackpot for the Wednesday 24th July draw is €7 million.

How does the Irish Lottery Work?

There are four ways to win a jackpot prize in the Irish Lottery. The main draw offers jackpots of at least €2 million, for matching six main numbers from between 1 and 47. To increase your chances of winning a prize, you can opt in to the supplementary Plus games on your ticket for an extra €1 per entry.

Choosing the “Plus” option enters your Lotto numbers into two supplementary draws: Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2. The rules for these draws are the same as Lotto, with prizes available for matching up to six of your numbers with those drawn for each game. You are also entered into the Lotto Plus Raffle; a four-digit raffle code is printed on your Lotto ticket, and if you match it with the code revealed on the draw date, you win a fixed €500 prize.
