Co Leitrim Player Wins €1 Million Ireland Only Raffle Prize

A EuroMillions player from Co Leitrim landed €1 million on the Ireland Only Raffle on Friday after being randomly selected as the big winner of the special draw. On a night of great prizes, another participant picked up €500,000 on EuroMillions Plus, with a ticket bought at a very lucky shop.

The Ireland Only Raffle usually awards ten prizes of €5,000, but for the first time ever there was a separate draw which would guarantee that one of those winners would become a millionaire. The code selected for the €1 million was I-BQH-97186, and it has been revealed that the ticket was sold at the An Post in Newtowngore.

As the winner considers what they will do with their new-found wealth, other EuroMillions fans may be tempted to pop down to Gleeson’s Spar on Henry Street in Limerick, after the store created its third big winner. Having previously sold one National Lottery ticket worth over €1 million and a EuroMillions entry worth around €467,000, Gleeson’s Spar sold the winning €500,000 ticket for Friday night’s EuroMillions Plus draw.

Proprietor Michael Gleeson said in the Irish Mirror: “Please God it was someone local; we've a lot of syndicates around the place from all the surrounding offices so hopefully it was one of them. They should go and check, because someone has a half a million euro in their back pocket, and they might not realise it.”

All Irish National Lottery winners have 90 days from the date of the draw to come forward and claim any prizes, while players who did not win can look forward to this week’s draws. There will be a €17 million EuroMillions jackpot to play for tomorrow night, and the Irish Lotto jackpot is up to €11.5 million.
