Dubliner Scoops €9.4 Million Irish Lotto Jackpot

An Irish Lotto player, who bought their ticket at a Spar on Talbot Street in the heart of Dublin, bagged the €9.4 million jackpot on Saturday night. The top prize had been rolling since Wednesday 5th July, but this weekend’s winner successfully stopped the run of 14 draws without success by matching the numbers 1, 16, 17, 32, 34 and 35. The Bonus Ball was 5.

A player from Kinsale in Cork celebrated a €219,204 windfall by matching five main numbers and the Bonus Ball, and more than 50,000 other ticket holders won prizes on the night. Visit the Irish Lotto Results page for the full prize breakdown and results from Lotto Plus 1, Lotto Plus 2 and the Lotto Plus Raffle.

Ulrike Campbell, manager of the lucky Spar store, told the Irish Sun, “I hope it was someone who really needs the money.” She reported that the atmosphere in the shop had been electric since she heard the news, with speculation rife between staff members over who had sold the multimillion-Euro slip.

The win was also poignant for Ulrike, who lost her husband Arthur earlier this year. She had co-owned the shop with him, having taken it over from his father 23 years previously.
