€49 Million EuroMillions Ticket Purchased Online In Leinster

The ticket that won the €49 million EuroMillions jackpot in the draw on Tuesday 21st July was purchased online by a player in Leinster, the National Lottery has revealed. It’s the second EuroMillions jackpot of the year to be won in Ireland.

One ticket holder matched all five numbers and both Lucky Stars in Tuesday’s draw and it was confirmed soon after that the winning ticket was purchased in Ireland. It has now been confirmed that it was an online entry purchased by a player in the Leinster area.

The lucky winner has been notified by email and a message has been sent to their online account, so the National Lottery is now just waiting for them to begin the claim process.

“We are still waiting to hear from this winner”, a spokesperson said, “so we are encouraging all of our online users in Leinster to check their accounts and emails and if they are the winner, to get in touch so we can officially begin the prize claims process.

“€49.5 million really is a life changing sum of money so we will be carefully guiding this winner through this prize claims process over the course of the coming weeks to ensure that they are fully prepared when claiming this massive prize.”

It was revealed that the winner purchased a Normal Play, so they chose their own numbers, all of which matched the winning line 14, 15, 24, 29, 42, and Lucky Stars 2 and 4 to land the incredible jackpot. The winner has 90 days to claim their prize and they will have the option to remain anonymous or go public with the win.

This latest EuroMillions winner is Ireland’s 16th overall and it’s the sixth-biggest jackpot ever won in the country. It’s also the second of the year, after a husband and wife from County Mayo won €17 million on 11th February

The biggest ever jackpot in Ireland was worth €175 million and won by a syndicate of family members from County Dublin on 19th February 2019. The winners didn’t go public but they told lottery officials that it was a ‘dream come true’ and that they had kept the ticket safe in an Argos catalogue until they claimed the prize money.

Following Tuesday’s win the EuroMillions jackpot reset to its starting value of €17 million. The next draw takes place on Friday 24th February and you can get your tickets online or from any National Lottery retailer in Ireland.
