EuroMillions was first drawn on Friday 13th February 2004, with just France, Spain and the UK taking part. Ireland joined, along with a number of other nations, in time for the draw on 8th October 2004 and, at the time, players had to choose five main numbers from 50 and two lucky stars from nine. In May 2011 there were two more Lucky Stars added to the pool.
The minimum jackpot in any EuroMillions draw is €15 million, but rollovers can generate jackpots that are far bigger. There is a jackpot cap of €190 million and, if there is no winner in the second draw at this level, the entire fund rolls down to the next winning prize tier.
For an extra fee, you can add EuroMillions Plus to your ticket, giving you the chance to win €500,000 in a separate draw into which your original five main EuroMillions numbers are entered. See the dedicated page for more information on this exciting supplementary game.
