Millionaire Raffle FAQs
Do you have a question about the Millionaire Raffle? Find answers to the most common queries below:
How do I enter the Christmas Millionaire Raffle?
You will receive a unique Christmas Millionaire raffle code automatically when you buy a ticket for eligible draws. Tickets cost €25 each.
When are draws held?
Draws are held once a year, on the 31st December.
What is the top prize?
Every draw guarantees at least one winner of €1,000,000.
How do I check if I’ve won?
You can compare your raffle code with the results on the Results page.
Can I win more than once?
No, each raffle code can only win one prize per draw.
How long do I have to claim my prize?
You have three months from the date of the raffle to claim your prize.
Are Millionaire Raffle prizes shared?
No. Because every printed raffle ticket features a completely unique multi-digit code sequence, there is zero risk of sharing a prize tier. If your number matches, the prize listed is yours entirely.
Can a single ticket win more than once?
No. Each ticket is entered into a sequence of draws, but once a unique ticket number is drawn for a prize, it is removed from the system and cannot win an additional tier.
Are raffle winnings taxed in Ireland?
No. All initial cash payouts won through the Irish National Lottery are 100% tax-free for Irish residents. However, standard bank interest or investment yields generated from your winnings afterwards may be subject to standard DIRT taxation.
Can I choose my own raffle numbers?
No. Unlike standard lottery games, you do not select your own numbers. The Central Gaming System automatically generates and prints a unique multi-digit code in consecutive order for every ticket purchased.
When do Christmas Millionaire Raffle tickets go on sale?
Tickets typically go on sale nationwide in early November. Because ticket quantities are strictly limited, sales run until either the 10:00 PM deadline on New Year's Eve or until the entire ticket pool sells out completely—whichever happens first.
Is there a limit on how many tickets are available in total?
Yes. The National Lottery caps the entire Christmas Millionaire Raffle at a maximum of 600,000 tickets. Once all 600,000 unique codes are sold, no more tickets can be issued for that year's draw.
Can I buy a Millionaire Raffle ticket as a gift for someone else?
Yes, it is a highly popular Christmas gift in Ireland. Retailers even provide festive gifting wallets and envelopes for in-store purchases. However, remember that the physical ticket acts as the only valid receipt—whoever holds and signs the back of the winning ticket is legally entitled to claim the prize.
What happens if the raffle doesn't sell out before New Year's Eve?
All listed cash prizes are fully guaranteed to be won. If the raffle doesn't sell out, any unpurchased ticket numbers are completely removed from the draw pool beforehand. This actually improves your individual odds, as the winners are drawn strictly from codes that have been paid for.
I bought multiple tickets at once; why aren't my raffle numbers consecutive?
If you purchase multiple entries together (especially online or during high-traffic store periods), your numbers may not be sequential. This happens because the central system processes transactions simultaneously across thousands of terminals all over Ireland.
Can I cancel or get a refund on a Millionaire Raffle ticket?
No. Under official National Lottery rules, once a Christmas Millionaire Raffle ticket has been generated and paid for, it cannot be cancelled, amended, or refunded under any circumstances.
