Can Ireland Make More EuroMillions History?

The EuroMillions jackpot has climbed to an astonishing €107 million ahead of Friday’s draw, making it the largest prize seen on the game since October 2016. Irish players have already enjoyed a great year courtesy of the pan-European lottery, but another small piece of history could be created if there is a big winner this weekend.

If the country has a winner it will bring to over €1 billion the total in Irish EuroMillions prizes, while it would also be the 11th time that a jackpot has been won in Ireland since the game was launched in 2004. “We are very excited that we are near that milestone,” said an Irish National Lottery spokesman.

Ireland has a good record of producing big winners. Dolores McNamara became Europe’s biggest lottery winner when she landed €115.4 million in July 2005, and she still holds the record for the largest win ever achieved in Ireland. The highest jackpot of this year was also won by an Irish syndicate, who snapped €88.5 million on 24th January.

A run of ten rollovers has pushed the jackpot to dizzying heights, and fans of the game can now start dreaming about how they might use the money if they do win. Whether it is buying a new home, splashing out on a few sports cars or simply providing financial security for all your loved ones, a big win would brighten up anyone’s future.

Anyone who does win a prize should be aware that they will only have 90 days to come forward and claim the money. If you buy a ticket from an authorised retailer, you should sign the back of it just in case it goes missing. Alternatively, you could choose your EuroMillions numbers online, and then just sit back and wait to see if you are a winner. Good luck!
