Donegal and Westmeath Ticket Holders Share €12.3 Million Irish Lotto Jackpot

Donegal and Westmeath Ticket Holders Share €12.3 Million Irish Lotto Jackpot

After a run of 18 consecutive rollovers, the Irish Lotto jackpot was finally won on Saturday by not one, but two lucky players. The winning tickets were purchased in Donegal and Westmeath and successfully matched all six numbers to claim an equal share of the €12.3 million top prize.

The winning numbers were 3, 7, 17, 21, 22 and 28, with 2 appearing as the Bonus Ball. National Lottery officials revealed that the lucky Quick Pick entries were sold at Mickey Joe’s Country Store in Umlagh, Carrigart and the Topaz Service Station on the Dublin Road in Athlone. Ticket holders are now being urged to check their playslips carefully as the hunt begins to find the latest big money winners.

The exciting news that two players had scooped the jackpot was understandably greeted with great joy at National Lottery headquarters in Dublin. Dermot Griffin, the organisation’s Chief Executive was quick to praise the double dose of good fortune: "We are delighted that the jackpot was shared. It is a huge amount of money that will make a difference to the winners’ lives.” Mr Griffin was also keen to extend a warm welcome to the fortuitous lottery fans: “We are looking forward to meeting the big jackpot winners in National Lottery headquarters in the next few days.“

There was also a real buzz around the Topaz Service Station in Athlone, where the store’s manager, Paula Keegan, was on hand to share her adulation with reporters: “This is the first time we have sold such a large winning ticket,” she said. However, the proprietor was unable to confirm whether or not the victorious player was from the area: “This is a busy shop with lots of passing trade so while we would love if the winner was a local it is a possibility that the ticket was purchased by someone passing through.”

The draw produced further merriment for four players who each walked away with €23,842 after matching five main numbers and the Bonus Ball, while an additional 79,106 benefited from the games other prize tiers. The jackpot has now reset ahead of this Wednesday’s draw.

If you would like to be in with a chance of winning an Irish Lotto prize of your own, entry into the upcoming draw could not be simpler. You can either choose your numbers online or pick up a ticket from any authorised retailer throughout the Republic. Good luck!
