Dublin Man Delighted To Claim Big EuroMillions Prize
A man from Dublin has celebrated a big win on EuroMillions after being persuaded to buy a ticket by his mother for the draw on Friday 23rd January.
The lucky player rarely takes part in the multi-national lottery, but he decided to purchase a Quick Pick from Centra on Coolock Lane in Santry after his mum pointed out that the jackpot had hit €100 million.
He ended up matching all five main numbers (just missing the Lucky Stars) to win €31,075, and has now come forward to Lottery HQ to claim his prize.
Recalling his success story, the Dubliner said: "I didn't even know what to ask for when I got to the shop. I just left with a Quick Pick ticket, with no idea what the draw would bring!"
The ticket sat forgotten in his car until a family member reminded him to check it shortly after the draw. He said: "It popped up saying, 'You've won big - contact the National Lottery'. I couldn't believe it. I actually had to ring a few family members who play more often than I do to double check it for me!"
He kept his ticket tucked between his phone and phone case until he visited the Irish Lottery offices.
Superdraw on the Way
It is shaping up to be a thrilling few weeks for EuroMillions players, with the jackpot soaring past €120 million and the first Superdraw of the year coming up soon.
The Superdraw has been scheduled for Friday 20th February and will offer a jackpot of €130 million. Assuming it is won before then, the top prize will just be bumped straight back up to the advertised amount for the Superdraw, using money from the Reserve Fund. If the jackpot keeps rolling, it will be allowed to run its course and the Superdraw will effectively be pushed back to a later date. The jackpot could even climb as high as €250 million.
EuroMillions draws take place every Tuesday and Friday night, and you can find the latest results as soon as they are available.
