Irish Lotto Player Wins €8.9 Million Jackpot

Irish Lotto Player Wins €8.9 Million Jackpot

The second-largest Irish Lotto jackpot of the year was won in the latest draw on Wednesday 5th October, with a single player pocketing €8.9 million.

Nobody had previously matched all the numbers since 3rd August, with two months of rollovers pushing the top prize up from its minimum amount of €2 million to the verge of eight figures.

The winning numbers for Wednesday’s draw were 3, 8, 20, 24, 28 and 29, with a Bonus Ball of 40. They ended up producing more than 29,000 prizes across the eight prize categories.

Two ticket holders snapped up €51,658 after matching five main numbers plus the Bonus, and you can find out the rest of the prize amounts by viewing the draw details.

No information was revealed about where the jackpot-winning ticket was sold straight after the draw, but it was announced the next morning that it was in County Meath. The lucky player now has 90 days to come forward and claim their prize.

Biggest Lotto Wins

The last time that a bigger Lotto jackpot was up for grabs was back in January, when a record-breaking €19 million was won by a player from Castlebar.

Following the big win in January, the rules were changed so that the jackpot can only stay at its maximum amount for five draws before it has to be won. The top prize can reach €19 million, but as soon as it goes past this value it will be capped.

Lotto draws continue every Wednesday and Saturday, and you can keep up with the latest results as soon as they are available.
