The Irish Lotto jackpot was won for the second time in a row on Saturday 13th June as a single ticket matched all six of the main numbers drawn to scoop €2 million. Two players had previously split the top prize of €5.8 million on Wednesday night, so Saturday’s success made it a week to remember for Irish Lotto fans.
The winning numbers were 10, 17, 20, 31, 33 and 38 with Bonus Ball 27. As well as the jackpot winner, there was another lucky participant who picked up €25,000 after matching five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball. There were over 30,000 other prize winners, earning cash amounts from €5 for matching three main numbers to €1,774 for matching five main numbers. The hunt is now on for the player who landed Saturday’s jackpot. The winning €4 quick pick ticket was bought from a Tesco Extra store in Drogheda, Co Louth, on Friday, and supermarket workers have already begun speculating over their identity. While it could be one of the motorists who travel along the nearby M1, personnel manager Jacinta Tuite would love the ticket to have been bought by somebody closer to home. She told the Irish Mirror: “We have a lot of weekly regulars doing their shop so we’re really hoping that it’s someone local.”
Meanwhile, a retired married couple who snapped up €2.9 million in Wednesday’s draw have come forward to collect their prize. They wish to remain anonymous but have already given some thought to how they plan to spend their winnings. The wife is looking forward to ‘the mother and father of a spending spree in Marks & Spencers’, while the husband has his eyes on a cruise, a trip to Rome and a new car, among other things. The couple have seven children, ten grandchildren and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
