Limerick Ticket Holder Lands €5.8 Million Irish Lotto Jackpot

One lucky Limerick ticket holder was left grinning from ear to ear after landing an Irish Lotto jackpot of €5.8 million. The prosperous player correctly matched the numbers 4, 16, 18, 24, 32 and 35 in Saturday’s evening’s draw to bring an end to a run of eight consecutive rollovers stretching back to Wednesday 25th October.

The winning Quick Pick entry was purchased on the day of the draw from the General Post Office on Cecil St in Limerick. This is the second time this year that a ticket from the Munster city has won the jackpot, while it also caps a fine 2017 for Irish Lotto fans, bringing the total number of top prize wins to ten, just one behind the eleven secured in the whole of 2016.

The Search Begins

Despite the commotion of the win, the identity of the latest victor remains a mystery; however, Dermot Griffin, the National Lottery’s CEO, claims officials from the operator have already begun the search. Speaking to reporters, he said: “We’re advising all of our Limerick Lotto players to check their tickets this morning to find out if they have won this life-changing prize.

"If you are the lucky ticket holder or holders, sign the back of the ticket and contact the National Lottery Prize Claims Team on 01 836 4444. I am looking forward to welcoming the winner into the Winners Room in Lotto HQ soon."

There was plenty to celebrate elsewhere in the draw as a further 12,853 rewards were won, with prizes ranging from a €3 scratch card for those players able to match two numbers and the Bonus (46) to €1,148 for those who matched five of the six main numbers in the draw. Joy in the Ireland Only Raffle

National Lottery bosses are also on the lookout for the winner of a €1 million EuroMillions Ireland Only Raffle bounty. Good fortune shone brightly on the player from Co Waterford who bought their entry from the SupaValu store at the Kilbarry Centre on Tramore Road, however, much like the Irish Lotto winner, the identity of the ticket holder remains unknown. The winning code from Friday’s draw was I-CWQ-43032.
