Mystery €1 Million Lotto Plus Winners Finally Come Forward
A Dublin family have come forward after six days of silence, following their lucky €1 million Lotto Plus win on Saturday last week.
The family were the only players to match all six numbers in the Irish Lotto Plus 1 draw on Saturday 23rd March. Until now, it was not known who had scooped up the €1 million prize.
The draw saw the numbers 8, 24, 27, 38, 39 and 40 come up, and a bonus number of 2. The winning ticket was bought from a Tesco in Rush – a small seaside town in County Dublin. The family who bought the winning ticket have chosen to remain anonymous.
“I Was Convinced I Had Made A Mistake”
The father reportedly discovered the win the following Sunday evening, after reading the lottery numbers in a newspaper.
“I spent most of the day flipping through the Sunday paper and all of the supplements and it wasn’t until I got to the front of the paper where the Lotto numbers were listed that I remembered to check my ticket. My mouth absolutely dropped when I saw all of my six numbers but I was convinced I had made a mistake."
The rest of the family were similarly sceptical about the apparent jackpot win. "When I eventually told all of the family, they thought I was absolutely barking mad. They took a lot of convincing before they would believe me.”
Seventh Lotto Plus 1 Top Prize Win
Earlier that day, employees at the store that sold the ticket were celebrating with National Lottery representatives – before the family had an inkling of their lucky win.
A National Lottery spokesperson commented of the win: "We are absolutely thrilled for one very lucky Tesco customer in Rush, Co. Dublin who is waking up this morning as our very latest Lotto millionaire.”
The family’s Lotto Plus win marks the seventh Lotto Plus 1 top prize win since the prize doubled in September 2018.
