€17 Million EuroMillions Jackpot Won In Ireland

€17 Million EuroMillions Jackpot Won In Ireland

An Irish ticket holder has won a €17 million EuroMillions jackpot after matching all five main numbers and two Lucky Stars in the draw on Tuesday 5th June. They are the first Irish EuroMillions jackpot winner of 2018, and the lottery’s second successive winner of the top prize.

Irish Player Celebrates Eight-Figure Win

The winning numbers were 9, 15, 22, 39 and 46, plus the Lucky Stars 4 and 5. There were 30,450 prizes won across Ireland on the night, including the player with the single jackpot-winning ticket.

Although no information has been released yet about whether the winning ticket was bought by a single player or a syndicate, they have 90 days from the date of the draw to come forward and claim their prize. They have been advised to keep their winning ticket safe and contact the National Lottery to begin the process of collecting their prize.

A spokeswoman from the National Lottery said they were “absolutely delighted to have an Irish person win” the EuroMillions jackpot. It is the 13th time the top prize has been won in Ireland since 2004. It follows on from the €4.5 million Irish Lotto jackpot won in Limerick on Saturday 2nd June, and it’s the first time in history the two jackpots have been won by Irish players just days apart.

Elsewhere in Ireland, the €500,000 jackpot wasn’t won in the supplementary EuroMillions Plus draw, although there were 27 winners of €2,000. There were also 10 winning codes drawn in the Ireland Only Raffle.

Second Successive Jackpot Win

The Irish jackpot winner has become the second successive winner of EuroMillions’ top prize, following the stunning €74 million jackpot won in the previous draw on Friday 1st June, shared between two winning tickets in Portugal and Spain. It also isn’t the first time this year that the EuroMillions jackpot has been won twice in a row. This incredible feat also happened in April, when a Swiss player landed €76 million on Friday 6th April, and a Belgian ticket holder scooped €17 million only four days later.

The EuroMillions jackpot was last won in Ireland on Friday 29th December 2017, when a small family syndicate from Dublin took home €38 million. The winners, who decided to stay anonymous, bought their ticket from The Village Shop in Malahide Shopping Centre on the day of the draw.
