€8.7 Million Irish Lotto Jackpot Goes to Dublin Player
A player from Dublin became the second Irish Lotto jackpot winner of the year on Saturday night after matching all six main numbers in the €8.7 million draw.
The jackpot had been building since a ticket holder from Co Mayo landed €11.1 million on Wednesday 25th February. It looked like it may go beyond €10 million once again, but Saturday’s draw proved to be very lucky for one participant (or syndicate) from Ireland’s capital.
The winning numbers for 2nd May were 1, 7, 27, 28, 34 and 42, with a Bonus Ball of 26. As well as the jackpot winner, there were 34,994 other prizes paid out, including a sum of €146,878 to a player who matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball. No more information was released about the jackpot-winning ticket immediately after the draw, with an announcement expected on Wednesday to confirm exactly where it was sold.
Irish Lottery spokesperson Sarah Orr said: “A Lotto player in Dublin has officially become Ireland’s newest millionaire after winning Saturday night’s Lotto jackpot worth an impressive €8,726,418. They should contact the prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for them to visit Lottery headquarters to collect their prizes.”
The winner has 90 days from the draw date to come forward and claim their money, so the deadline is 31st July.
EuroMillions Superdraw on 5th June
While the Lotto jackpot now resets to €2 million, EuroMillions currently stands at €49 million. It will soon be much higher, too, with the next Superdraw scheduled for 5th June.
