Irish Player Shares EuroMillions Jackpot as Irish Lotto Rolls Over
Irish lottery players had a weekend to remember as one lucky ticket holder scooped half of the EuroMillions jackpot on Friday 29th January to become one of the country’s biggest winners of all time. The Irish Lotto jackpot rolled over on Saturday night but over 39,000 participants picked up prizes.
The EuroMillions jackpot on Friday night was worth an astonishing €132.3 million, and there were two players who matched the winning EuroMillions numbers of 1, 5, 23, 29 and 32 with Lucky Stars 1 and 7. One of the jackpot-winning tickets was sold in France and the other in Ireland, making both participants €66.1 million richer.
It is the eighth time the EuroMillions top prize has been won in Ireland and there has already been plenty of speculation over where the all-important ticket was sold. However, Irish National Lottery officials have insisted they will not announce the winning location in order to ‘safeguard the player’.
Irish lottery winners have 90 days to claim prizes and the decision has been made not to reveal where the ticket was sold so that the player can come to terms with their new-found wealth in their own time. Visit the EuroMillions Results section to find out all about the latest draws.
While the EuroMillions jackpot will now reset to €15 million for the next draw on Tuesday, the Irish Lotto jackpot will grow to €3 million for Wednesday night’s game after nobody matched all six main numbers on Saturday 30th January. The Irish Lotto numbers drawn were 21, 25, 26, 28, 33 and 47 with Bonus Ball 30.
The prizes given away ranged from a €3 scratchcard for matching two main numbers plus the Bonus Ball up to €1,516 for matching five main numbers. The biggest winner of the night actually came in Irish Lotto Plus 1, where one player matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball to pocket €5,000.
