A draw that became a national phenomenon began with the jackpot had rolled over for a record-breaking 63 consecutive draws, prompting political debate and a mandated "Will-Be-Won" finale draw where it had to be cleared. The lucky Quick-Pick ticket was purchased at Laura’s XL store in Castlebar.
2. €18.96 Million (June 2008) — Co. Carlow
Before the 2022 madness, this record stood untouched for 14 years. It was won by a famous 16-man work syndicate from the Dan Morrissey concrete plant in Bennekerry, Carlow. Because it was split 16 ways, each member took home roughly €1.18 million.
3. €17.01 Million (August 2025) — Co. Mayo
Mayo struck gold again when an online player won the third-largest domestic prize in history. Because the ticket was bought via the National Lottery website, the winner’s location was simply tracked to County Mayo, and they opted to keep their identity fully private.
